Bob Goutermout

Fulton, NY
28.May.1960 - 16.May.2017

Bob Goutermout began racing at Oswego in 1992 in the newly formed Limited/SBS division. He won three times and was 4th in points that first season. In 1993, he won six times in that division and was the track champion. He then continued to collect wins and top finishes in the small block supers... In 1994, '95 and '96 he finished 6th, 3rd and 3rd in points before moving on to the supermodified division in 1997.
Bob enjoyed continued success in this highest level at Oswego. From 1997 through 2005, he won thirteen features, finishing in the top five 48 times.
The 2000 season was a standout year for him as he finished a close second in points behind Greg Furlong and won the prestigeous "Mr. Supermodified" $10,000 to win event for the second year in a row.

The Oswego Speedway family has lost another member. In the early days of the Limited Supermodifieds (now called Small Block Supers) Bob Goutermout made the switch from dirt to asphalt racing at the Oswego Speedway. After a successful career with the Limiteds, including a number of feature wins, Bob moved to the Supermodifieds, where he was just as successful winning a number of features and the Mr. Supermodified title race. Bob has worked most recently as the Volney Highway Department Deputy Superintendent. His passing was quite unexpected. Bob was 56. Way too young. R.I.P.   . . . written by Roy Sova
